People in their 40s and 50s need to do the following:

1. Seriously get a handle on managing stress. These are the ages when years of self neglect really tend to manifest.

Stress related disease, disability, and early death have exploded in prevalence in the last 75 years. The lack of effective stress management threatens to destabilize healthcare systems in the modernized world.

2. Make sure your gut microbiome is in a healthy state. Derangement or depletion of human biomes results on a number of serious diseases. 

Because the microorganisms that have evolved along with us for millions of years have become an integral part of our physiology, their loss results in serious disruption of the digestive, inmune, and endocrine feedback systems.

3. Cut out the processed junk food as if your life depended on it. It is time we start looking at these things as serious risk factors.

Along with disrupting the human biome, much processed food contain chemical that were only invented in recent history. Of course, we have not evolved the necessary mechanisms to metabolize these agents, resulting in a type of toxicity that puts immense strain on our systems, thus contributing to an explosion of diet related diseases.
